The Road Less Travelled Southwest US
03/2010
In 2009 i spent almost an entire year working on the Laguna Art Museum show. it was the longest i had ever worked on one body of work, all based around one theme, thus far in my career. So, for an abrupt change of pace in 2010 my plan was to travel extensively, having seven shows in one year in seven different cities. Austin, Denver, Cologne, Hamburg, Warsaw, Portland, and Seattle. Meeting as many new faces, and making as many new friends as i can. Through these new relationships, stories get told, beers get drank, and sometimes inspiration is born. The Road Less Traveled is an expanding year long project about travelling to new places, making new friends, and feeding my archive with strange new experiences and situations to build works that reflect these times and travels. In each of the galleries i exhibited new paintings and screen prints, as well as a large scale piece done on location when possible. Big thanks to all the galleries that helped me make this happen. An extra big thanks to my assistants Bryan, Rick, Jon, Isabell, and Gavin for putting up with my rage. Also, heavy thanks to my epic van, Big Mike, for making the domestic journey happen. It went down as follows:
1) March 13th/ Austin Texas/ Okay Mountain Gallery
2) March 20th/ Denver Colorado/ Andenken Gallery
3) May 15th/ Cologne Germany/ Arty Farty Gallery
4) May 29th/ Hamburg Germany/ Helium Cowboy Gallery
5) June 6th/ Warsaw Poland/ Space 5-10-15 with Swanski
6) July 10th/ Portland Oregon/ 5024PDX Gallery
7) July 17th/ Seattle Washington/ 5024SEA Gallery
